VDMS Tour: VDMS TIRE MODEL
VDMS contains the MRA Nondimensional Tire Model implemented in S-Function form.
Inputs to the tire model are normal load, slip angle, inclination angle, slip
ratio and local surface friction coefficient. The model outputs lateral force,
longitudinal force and aligning torque. For a more detailed description of the
MRA Nondimensional Tire Model, click here.
The diagrams below show the Simulink subsystems containing the tire model.

Alternate tire models may be substituted into VDMS. If the new tire model is
already programmed in Simulink it can be substituted directly inside the Tire
Model block. Non-Simulink descriptions may be compiled as S-Functions (DLLs)
and inserted.
The VDMS tire model architecture is designed for the replacement of the tire
model with user specific (proprietary) tire models. This includes special
features in the program initialization to accept new tire models and their
input files as well as the convenient one-block tire model in Simulink.
