VDS Tour: INPUT
Input to VDS is through a series of ASCII files. The vehicle and tire files are,
with only small differences, compatible with MMM and LTS. They also contain the
same data as the VDMS input files (although VDMS uses a different format).
The vehicle file is a fixed-format ASCII file. Click
here to view the first page of a sample vehicle file. The VDS
User's Manual contains a detailed description of the inputs and input file
format. VDS can make use of either tabular or MRA Nondimensional Tire models.
There is a separate input file for aerodynamics. The aero models are similar to
those found in LTS. When the Advanced Steering System Model is used, described
on the next page, an additional two input files are required. A terrain file is
used to describe the ground elevation, and input files exist for driver model
parameters and open loop command tables.
While a VDS input set may involve several hundred parameters, VDS works properly
with simplified data sets.
