The RCVD
Program Suite is included on CD with Race Car
Vehicle Dynamics: Problems, Answers and Experiments. It
requires Microsoft Windows.
 Programs include:
- Bicycle Model
- Four Wheeler Model
- RCVD Speedway
- RCVD Speedway II
- Moment Method
- Ride/Roll Rate Calculator
These
programs, while simple in comparison with MRA's comprehensive vehicle
modeling software, allow the user to investigate the basics of vehicle
dynamics without testing a real vehicle. Key concepts from RCVD (such as
oversteer/understeer, stability derivatives, force-moment analysis, load
transfer and others) are illustrated through problems which are solved via
the Program Suite . Such concepts, once understood in simple models,
can be extended to more complex models or real vehicles.
The Program
Suite offers insights into the benefits and limitations of vehicle
simulations. The user is encouraged to go beyond the posed questions and
experiment with each of the programs.

Race
Car Vehicle Dynamics Program Suite,
64-bit systems & Windows 8/10
After installing/unzipping the
files on the CD to directory c:\RCVDPS, James Wingfield reports the
following procedure to register the Program Suite for use on 64-bit,
Windows 8 systems. Rich Wells got the
RCVD Program Suite running on Win 10 using the same
procedure:
1) Open the command prompt as an
administrator.
2) Navigate to the correct
directory by typing the following into the command prompt:
cd c:\windows\syswow64
[more generally, %systemroot%\SysWoW64\regsvr32.exe]
3) Register the DLL and OCX
files by typing the following into the command prompt:
regsvr32 c:\RCVDPS\comcat.dll
regsvr32 c:\RCVDPS\comct332.ocx
etc.
and repeat for each DLL and OCX
file.
